You can set (and change) the expiration date of an agreement while you're still drafting, or once it’s been proposed. Go to the bottom of the agreement, click “In A Quarter” (the default) and choose an option from the dropdown. An expiration date can be anything from two weeks to one year.
When considering a proposal’s expiration date, ask yourself:
- How long will it take you to learn what works and what doesn’t about the agreement?
- How risky are the terms of the agreement? If the agreement doesn’t work, how quickly will it start producing significant negative results? In other words, how long will the agreement be safe-to-try?
- How long do you think the team will be willing to uphold and experiment with the agreement?
